Dear Faithful Partner,
I know many of you don’t know me well, or even at all except through what you have read in mailings from the pregnancy center, so let me say that I’m not usually at a loss for words. As I sit at the computer and ask God to provide the words for me to share with you, I struggled. There is so much going on in the world around us and so many ministry opportunities and needs, why is this ministry the one you support?
Do you or have you had a personal experience with an unplanned, unexpected pregnancy? Maybe someone in your family, close friend? Have you or someone close to you experienced an abortion? I have found that many of our “shareholders” (I’ll explain later) aren’t in any of those categories. I came to this ministry because someone thought of me when an employment opportunity arose.
I used the word shareholder because you are or have made an investment in this pregnancy center which invests in the people of our community, so you are a shareholder. Galatians 6:2 (NLT) says, “Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.” By being a partner, you are sharing in the accountability, mental weight, duty, trail, task, work, anxiety, hardship and responsibility of the life affirming physical, emotional and spiritual support that is provided at the Pregnancy & Family Resource Center.
As I said before, none of the typical pregnancy related occurrences happened in my life, so I was never searching to be involved in a pregnancy resource center, but God (one of my favorite sayings) had other plans. Do you know the impact that your presence and your guidance have on others? Do you share your knowledge and involvement with the Pregnancy & Family Resource Center with people you know? Why do you, or why don’t you?
I have a great way for you to inform and encourage your friends, family, neighbors, pew friends/neighbors (that’s what I call the friends I sit around at church) and/or your pastor to join you and I in being a shareholder. I want to invite you to be a part of our Fall Fundraiser, Por La Vida. For my non-Spanish speaking friends, that means For Life! That is the perfect image of what we do and who we are. We are here for Life.
Just today, I heard from someone that said they had an abortion many years ago and the pain didn’t surface until coming into our center. God is using this ministry to not only reach and educate families before an abortion, but also reaching them years and years later.
Here is what you can do practically, attend and invite others to attend Por La Vida. It will be a fun, informative night with great food, fellowship and an opportunity for you to show others what it is to be a shareholder in the Pregnancy & Family Resource Center. We will have a taco bar with dessert, and I am super excited about Mike G. Williams who is our featured speaker for the evening. I won’t bore you too much with statistical information and numbers, but I want you and your guests to hear directly from the people that are involved and affected by our ministry. I could spend days showing you the numbers and such, but once you hear how a woman has been restored after a post abortion Bible study my numbers are meaningless.
Mark your calendars for Friday October 25th, and when you receive the details, call us to reserve your spot and as many spots for your guests. Keep in mind that our tables do seat 8, but don’t let that limit you, tables are close enough to talk if your friends sit at a nearby table.
We do require RSVP’ing for the Por La Vida evening because our seating is spacious, but limited. Reservations will start September 1st and close on Friday October 18th. Beverly will be glad to accommodate you and your guests as best she can with seating arrangements.
Thank you in advance for your continued support, encouragement, prayer and participation with this ministry.
Blessings,
Kathleen Jones
